Music Bingo — Playlist Length Calculator
5×5 cards, free center (24 live titles). Each round ends when the first card in the room completes that round's pattern.

Inputs
Round patterns
Each round runs its own call sequence, so an easy pattern makes a short round and a hard one makes a long round. The pool is sized so the whole ladder fills your window.
Breakdown
The equation
Each round is its own race, so the times add. Swapping a blackout round for a single-line round frees up most of that round's time, which the solver spends on a deeper pool instead.
How long each pattern takes
| Pattern | Squares needed | Songs to first win | Share of pool | Minutes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Any single line ← | 4 or 5 | 11 | 23% | 11.9 |
| Four corners ← | 4 | 15 | 31% | 16.3 |
| Two lines | 8–10 | 19 | 40% | 20.6 |
| Plus (centre row + column) | 8 | 27 | 56% | 29.3 |
| X (both diagonals) ← | 8 | 27 | 56% | 29.3 |
| Outer frame | 16 | 38 | 79% | 41.2 |
| Blackout (full card) ← | 24 | 42 | 88% | 45.5 |
Computed for your pool of 48 songs and 120 cards. Swap any round to one of these to see the night re-time itself.
Sensitivity to crowd size
| Cards in play | Songs played | Runtime (min) | Playlist needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 124 | 150 | 159 |
| 25 | 111 | 136 | 181 |
| 50 | 103 | 128 | 194 |
| 100 | 96 | 120 | 212 |
| 120 ← | 95 | 119 | 212 |
| 250 | 88 | 111 | 229 |
| 500 | 83 | 106 | 247 |
Your pattern ladder held fixed; only the door count changes. A bigger room finds every pattern sooner, so the same ladder runs short — which is why a busy night needs a deeper pool to fill the same window.
Exact hypergeometric model for fixed patterns, Poisson approximation for multi‑line wins. Validated against Monte Carlo simulation to within 1–2 songs.
