... Leading to a bunch of bigger changes in front of the scenes. After almost 20 years of being almost exclusively Mac and to a lesser degree, iOS focused, the last month has brought a bunch of our work to other platforms, including Windows and Android ( and soon even Linux and Haiku ). Those changes meant time to rethink some of how this web site works. That may not sound like a lot of work, and visually, it probably is not. However, behind the scenes it has been a lot of work to make hundreds of little changes to make things work better for more than one platform.

As of this afternoon, the product pages can now support links not only to the app stores, but also direct downloads where appropriate. The plumbing is now in place for us to start selling direct instead of just through the app stores, though we still have some internal office things to finish up before we are ready for that particular adventure. We have finished reengineering the site itself to be search engine friendly, if not ideal. We completely reworked our page cache mechanisms to enable faster loads, and restructured our infrastructure to be better behaved within how we store large files.

Our first victim. uh. that's not the right word. Oh first test subject is the Accessibility Mapper. In addition to officially launching the Windows versions, both ARM and x64 as direct downloads, the Mac version is also available as a direct download in addition to the Apple App Store. In addition, being as the product is "Free for non-commercial use", we had a few people ask if they could contribute, so there is now a 'choose your value' donation link on the web page. In future versions, we will include links to that donation in the apps themselves when it is appropriate.

These changes are just part of the ongoing effort to get all of these tools that we've built out into the wild and reestablishing this little corner of the internet as our home away from home.
